Membership Open Office Hours

Every other Thursday, from 3:30-4:30pm, ET, HQ staff is available to answer your membership, re:Members, and Bill Highway questions. If you don’t see the invite on your calendar, please email bryan@smps.org.

Chapter Membership Activity Notifications

As was the case in the previous database, we are working with re:Members on a custom solution where chapter presidents and membership chairs would be notified by email within 24 hours of new and reinstating members joining. As of this message, a scope of work has been signed, and we expect this work will be completed no later than the end of February.

As always, you have access to 11 chapter queries via smps.org (left hand margin > Start> Queries > Query Center > All Queries)

(Note: Your chapter demographics query lives there, too.)

Member Directory Updates

If you haven’t noticed the new filters within Advance Search, please take a look. As of this message, additional filters have been made available.

Any questions? Please reach out to Director of Membership, Bryan Lipps, at bryan@smps.org.

Celebrate Our Season of Giving Chapters

Thanks again to our chapters for participating in the 2025 Season of Giving! Our fun (and friendly!) competition ran through January 5 and provided an opportunity to show some extra love to the Foundation. Four of our chapters came out on top!

Thanks to your support, the Foundation regularly delivers resources that drive industry growth and innovation—and supports the future of AEC through scholarships. Each of the four chapters will receive two prizes: 1) one night at the Amplify A|E|C host hotel in Las Vegas during the 2026 conference and 2) one registration to the Emerging Trends Roundtable at Amplify A|E|C 2026.

Congrats to the following chapters! Your gift of giving will go a long way!

  • SMPS Boston

  • SMPS Los Angeles

  • SMPS Pittsburgh

  • SMPS Wichita

Any questions? Reach out to Foundation Staff Liaison, Antonio Payne, CPA, CDE, at antonio@smps.org.

Fiscal Year Master Class Now on Demand

SMPS HQ held a master class last month to provide focused training and real-time guidance for chapters as they transition to the new fiscal-year cycle. Our initial workshop, Bylaws Rollout Workshop, featured guidance on adopting the updated model bylaws, including timelines, voting requirements, and best practices. In case you missed it, you can watch the recording (use passcode: p1m!=@2k).

With more on the way, these sessions are designed to help chapter leaders understand the changes and implement them smoothly. Additional workshops addressing financial considerations and implementation details will be announced soon.

Thank you for your leadership and partnership as we move through this transition together. Our goal is to ensure chapters feel informed, supported, and confident every step of the way.

Have specific questions related to your chapter? Reach out to Kai Wright at kai@smps.org to schedule a one-on-one Fiscal Year Master Class session for tailored support.

CX Workshop Series Recap

Last year, we held several Client Experience (CX) Immersion workshops in partnership with ClientSavvy, a ClearlyRated Company. The one-day, hands-on program, designed for AEC marketers and business developers, offered a mix of workshops, collaboration, and real-world applications.

Thank you to the SMPS chapters that participated and co-hosted the program. If your chapter would like to host a CX workshop this year, please reach out to Associate Director of Volunteer Relations, Kai Wright, at kai@smps.org. Interested in downloading the CX report and other valuable research and publications, visit our website.
